"A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders.
Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders."
Psychologists hold doctorate degrees (PhD, PsyD) and "help people learn to cope with stressful situations, overcome addictions, manage their chronic illnesses, and (offer) tests and assessments that can help diagnose a condition or tell more about the way a person thinks, feels, and behaves."
