Counselors & therapists can diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They often specialize in treating certain conditions and/or in certain modalities of therapy (different types of therapy may include DBT, CBT, talk therapy, etc). This includes LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and LPC (licensed professional counselor), among others.

Modalities and training include: Play therapy; Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques; Somatic Experiencing; Family Systems; Couples therapy including some Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and attachment style approaches; Solution-Focused Brief Therapy; Reality Therapy; Motivational Interviewing.

Magellan, ComPsych, and other EAP’s, preferred provider with several major insurance networks. Provider accepts and bills insurance directly.

Additional Comments:

Treatment of substance-related disorders is as secondary and tertiary diagnoses only. History of working with children with severe emotional disturbances and their families, and with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Significant experience as a K-12 school counselor in rural and urban Alaska and in working with schools as a service provider. Can provide court testimony services as determined.
