Below is a list of private practice mental health providers. TYPES OF MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS
COUNSELORS & THERAPISTS
Counselors & therapists can diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They often specialize in treating certain conditions and/or in certain modalities of therapy (different types of therapy may include DBT, CBT, talk therapy, etc). This includes LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and LPC (licensed professional counselor), among others.
PSYCHIATRISTS
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
Psychologists specialize in diagnosing developmental, cognitive, behavioral, and mental health conditions. Some psychologists also provide ongoing treatment. Some psychologists offer psychological and/or neuropsychological testing.

Do you accept insurance?
Alaska Psychiatric Solutions operates on a fee-for-service basis and does not accept commercial insurance. As an out-of-network physician, Dr. Gallardo does not bill commercial insurance companies. However, many patients do use their health insurance to help them with charges. This can be done by submitting the itemized receipt you receive after each appointment to your insurance company who may partially reimburse you directly. Dr. Gallardo does work with some Medicare and Medicaid plans, and she is in network with Tricare.

Dr. Gallardo will call you back, typically within three business days to obtain some preliminary information including the general type of problem you’re calling for, and the type of treatment that you’re seeking. She will also provide some basic information about the practice and answer logistical questions you may have.

I'm trained in Somatic Experiencing as well as other somatic approaches that help heal from both acute and developmental trauma. I also incorporate attachment theory, mindfulness, and parts of EMDR into my work.

I also use Motivational Interviewing techniques to help clients identify and move toward their personal goals. Psychoeducation is an important part of my work, helping clients better understand their experiences and develop practical tools for growth. I am getting trained in Brainspotting Spring 2026.

I am an out-of-network provider, but most insurance plans cover out-of-network therapy by LPCs. I bill clients at the time of service and then I also submit their claim to their insurance on their behalf, a process known as courtesy billing.
