COUNSELORS & THERAPISTS

Counselors & therapists can diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They often specialize in treating certain conditions and/or in certain modalities of therapy (different types of therapy may include DBT, CBT, talk therapy, etc). This includes LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and LPC (licensed professional counselor), among others.

Do you accept insurance?

Alaska Psychiatric Solutions operates on a fee-for-service basis and does not accept commercial insurance. As an out-of-network physician, Dr. Gallardo does not bill commercial insurance companies. However, many patients do use their health insurance to help them with charges. This can be done by submitting the itemized receipt you receive after each appointment to your insurance company who may partially reimburse you directly. Dr. Gallardo does work with some Medicare and Medicaid plans, and she is in network with Tricare.

Dr. Gallardo will call you back, typically within three business days to obtain some preliminary information including the general type of problem you’re calling for, and the type of treatment that you’re seeking. She will also provide some basic information about the practice and answer logistical questions you may have.

My approach to healing is based in somatic approaches and include working with the mind/body connection. I'm trained in Somatic Experiencing as well as other somatic approaches that help heal from both acute and developmental trauma. I also incorporate attachment theory, mindfulness, and parts of EMDR into my work.

I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross and Aetna, as well as several EAP programs. I submit billing directly to insurance and accept cash, check, or credit card at the time of the service for co-pays and out of pocket payments.

I take a person-centered, holistic approach with each of my clients, recognizing that everyone’s healing process is unique. I often integrate mindful self-compassion practices to encourage curiosity and self-kindness, along with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) strategies to build emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. I also use Motivational Interviewing techniques to support clients in identifying and moving toward their personal goals. Psychoeducation is an important part of my work, helping clients better understand their experiences and develop practical tools for growth.

Do you accept insurance?

I qualify for LPC Licensure in January 2026. In the meantime, I can bill Aetna and EBMS directly. At this time, other providers do not cover supervisory billing. Clients pay by cash, check, or credit card at the time of service. I also provide a sliding scale for folks if needed.

While I have completed the requirements towards LPC licensure, I am under the supervision of Margie Thomson, LCSW, until the new year.
